Hans Christian Andersenβs classic tale The Little Mermaid, is brought to life by Proteus in their unique style fusing physical theatre, circus, music and film.

Beautiful, poignant, funny and full of fishy fun, this production is a brand new version of this beloved classic, suitable for the whole family. Taking the lead as the little mermaid is Beatrice Rose, Β and her PrinceΒ played by Umar Ahmed.
Mary Swan, creative director of Proteus, returns to create a direct another marvellous show with her signature infusion of circus and theatre. Mary has also developed the companyβs innovative approach toward participatory work, enabling professional artists from all disciplines to work collaboratively with communities to create public arts, often raising awareness or increasing understanding of issues hidden or ignored by wider society.
The Little Mermaid is a studio scale piece that toured extensively throughout community spaces, schools and local arts centres as part of a rural touring scheme.
Designer Sam Pine also returns to Proteus, and has been working alongside
Mary for a multitude of Proteus’ recent productions, such as Dracula and The Elephant Man. Sam studied Theatre Design at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has been working as a Designer in both Theatre and Film for over 10 years. This will be Samβs thirteenth show for Proteus.Β
