*New* Proteus Youth Theatre Ages 14+

Thursdays 6.45pm - 8.45pm

As our most advanced group, the Proteus Youth Theatre ages 14+ year old group will start to explore theatre and performance through a more professional lens – whilst still having lots of fun along the way!

In the opening weeks of term, we’ll work on building an ensemble and experimenting with different performance styles. We will then settle on a specific play we want create and work towards a public performance in the Spring term of 2025. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone who is looking to take acting and performance a little more seriously, wanting to learn more about the process of creating and rehearsing a piece of theatre, with chances to experiment with roles both on and off the stage.

As a more advanced group, the work generally focusses on classic or contemporary plays, as well as devising their own work. For the past two years the group has taken part in the National Theatre Connections programme. They also benefit from specialist masterclasses with visiting professional artists including workshops on street dance, puppetry and circus and have many opportunities to take part local community performances and projects if they choose to.

The company regularly works with artists who have worked with organisations like The Globe, The National Theatre, Kneehigh and with experience in film and television.

Autumn Term

Terms typically run for 10 weeks. Autumn Term 2024 will run from Thursday 12th September to 21st November

We offer free taster sessions for young people to come and spend time with the group and see if our youth theatre is right for them, so please contact us to arrange.
