Ashley Christmas
Ashley has been a member of the Natural Theatre Company, Bath, for over 20 years where she performs character-based street theatre both at home and abroad.
Ashley trained at Leicester Polytechnic and has a B.A (Hons) Degree in Performing Arts. Her theatre work includes playing: Nora in The Truth About Harry Beck for the Natural Theatre Company, the White Queen in Alice Through The Looking Glass for The Tobacco Factory, Bristol, Miss Skillon in See How They Run for York Theatre Royal, Grace in The Wish House for North Country Theatre and Artemis Arinae in Crimes on the Coast for New Old Friends.
Ashley has performed regularly for Proteus Theatre Company, most notably in the one-woman show Becoming Hattie; an affectionate look at the life and career of 'Carry On' legend Hattie Jacques and a witty look at modern life in show business and its cultural attitudes toward larger women and most recently as The Madame in The Bloody Chamber.

Award-winning theatre company RedCape Theatre is run by Artistic Directors Cassie Friend and Rebecca Loukes and is company-in-residence at South Street Arts Centre in Reading. Cassie and Rebecca make and tour original plays, using true stories as inspiration and are drawn to ordinary people in extraordinary situations. RedCape's work is highly visual and physical and creates gripping new writing.
They have just finished touring On Track - a new play telling the story of a single mother’s journey of discovery through the history of women’s cycling. Previous shows include The Idiot Colony, 1 Beach Road, Be Brave and Leave for the Unknown and Thunder Road. Having just finished a successful tour of On Track, RedCape are now working on a new show called The Luminous - a story of friendship and rebellion and our most ambitious yet.
They are also expanding RedCape’s education work, creating a new website and working on a book proposal too. Megan Brooks
Megan uses multiple disciplines in her work, including physical theatre, aerial, clowning, puppetry and music.
Megan trained at E15 Acting School, graduating in 2004, and has worked predominantly in theatre ever
since. She has toured the UK and abroad with various productions; most recently Truth, a co-production between Ramshacklicious and Hijinx Theatre and the film Relighting a Very Nice Fire, by Gareth Clark, for which she also provided audio description. Megan has worked for Proteus Theatre Company on two productions; Rapunzel and, more recently, an adaptation of Angela Carter’s The Bloody Chamber, in which amongst the many roles, she played the Marquis.
Megan has worked frequently in integrated theatre, using British Sign Language and audio description to provide and explore access for audiences. As an audio describer, Megan’s work includes Bristol Old Vic, Glastonbury Festival, Inverted Theatre and Proteus, amongst others.
Scratch Built Productions: Resident Artists
Scratchbuilt productions is a multi-award winning theatre company founded in 2006 with an aim of creating aesthetically stimulating shows for children and adults alike. They have recently become a CIC furthering their wider mission to make a real difference to communities through inclusive theatre.
Using mask and puppetry Scratchbuilt productions combine great original story telling with exquisitely handcrafted design. They work with a variety of artists ranging from animators, musicians, comediennes, circus performers and balloon modellers!
Nick Ash Scratchbuilt’s cofounder is in high demand as a puppet and set builder. The company are based at and supported by Proteus Theatre in Basingstoke.
Scratch Built Productions are long-time collaborations on a number of projects with Proteus over the years, from creating puppets for many of Proteus’ touring shows to co-producing the 2018 tour of Hansel and Gretel, 2019’s tour of A Christmas Knight and, since 2014, the immersive Christmas show for pre-schoolers taking place at the Creation Space, the most recent of which was The Christmas Switch for Christmas 2022. Since the Summer of 2021 Scratch Built have also created an immersive summer show for families; You Need a Holiday (2021) Let's Go on Holiday (2022) and the upcoming Fairy Finders (July 2023).
